  • What will i see?
    Madeira is known as a paradisiacal island due to its views. While running, you’ll reach places otherwise inaccessible, where you get to see and feel nature in a unique way. Our forest, the Laurissilva, is home for all kind of different endemic fauna and flora species. You can also glance at a sunrise in Pico Ruivo, or a sunset in Madalena do Mar. We encourage you to take your camera with you, so that the all world believes when you say you were in paradise.
  • How’s the weather like?
    Madeira has a subtropical weather which allows us to have mild temperatures all year long, between 18ºC and 24ºC. As a mountainous region, microclimates are a particularity. It allows us to practice trail running throughout the year, choosing our trails based on the weather around the island.
  • What do I require to run Madeira trails?
    If you’re physically active, enjoy nature and have an adventurous spirit, don’t hesitate and come run with us. We adapt our tours so that you have a pleasant and comfortable experience. Madeira has a wide variety of unforgettable trails, it’s just a matter of adjusting them to your kind of run.
  • Will I handle the pace?
    Whether you’re an experienced or amateur runner, our guide will always adapt the experience to suit your pace, so that you have the most out of the tours.
  • Are the trails safe?
    At Go Trail Madeira your safety is our main concern. The majority of our tours are done in marked and rail protected trails. We encourage you to pay attention to any root, loose rock, damp terrain, tree branch that can pose a threat. Guides at some points will reduce the pace or even stop if they see that safety is an issue.
  • There are many tours, which one best suits me?"

  • How will I keep hydrated throughout the tours?
    When running, it’s vital that you keep hydrated. Your well being is extremely important for us at Go Trail Madeira. So much that it is mandatory that all runners initiate any tour with a minimum of one liter of water. There are water points along the majority of our tours and our guides will indicate and stop at them.
  • What kind of terrain will I find?
    The terrain will vary and depend on the chosen tour as well as weather conditions. In our trails you can find a mix of everything. Dirt, loosen and wet rock, low and high grass as well as the beginning of the 20th century handmade stonework flooring or even leaf covered paths.
  • What kind of gear should I bring?
    To take the most out of any of our tours we suggest that you bring your own comfortable running clothes and gear. Depending on the weather we also suggest that you bring warm clothes. We suggest you wear a pair of running shoes with good grip.
  • How do I get to the trails?
    Transport to and from trails is assured by Go Trail Madeira.

  • Where and when are the pickups?
    From your hotel or predetermined meeting point! Pickups outside Funchal have a € 10€ per person extra fee.

  • What kind of insurance is provided?
    Civil responsability and personal accidents insurance.
  • Is there a participants limitation number?
    No.
  • Does Go Trail Madeira follow any code of conduct?
    Yes. It’s very important for us at Go Trail Madeira that future generations enjoy our mountains and trails as we do today.We're recognized as a Nature Tourism company by ICNF - Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas (Nature and Forest Conservation Institute). Please spare a minute and have a look at the code of conduct and good practices for the visitors of protected areas.
  • How do I book my running trip with Go Trail Madeira?

  • What happens in bad weather conditions?
    Go Trail Madeira will change or even cancel a running tour in case of bad weather.
  • How do I cancel my reservation?
    Cancelations must be informed via email and must occur within a 48 hour period prior to the tour day. Deposit is non-refundable.
  • Wich language is spoken by running guides?
    Running guides will speak english, spanish and portuguese.
